Dot SE Domain Names

The .SE country-code extension was launched in 1986 and delegated to Sweden. During the first years after its launch, the registration process was quite restrictive, so a very limited number of domains were purchased. Individuals were permitted to reserve solely one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was a requirement, i.e. only Swedish persons, business entities and organizations were able to buy a .SE domain. In 2003, however, the registration process was loosened notably and, consequently, the number of dot SE domains has been mounting each year.

At present, anyone can order a dot SE name, which allows you to reach the Swedish online community even if you do not have a local presence.
